Center Fellowships
Fellowships will be awarded to students in specified degree programs at UC San Diego based on evaluation of their applications for admission. No further application material is required, though may be requested upon review of the candidates.
21st Century China Center Fellowship
The center awards several fellowships, named as the 21st Century China Center Fellowship, that covers whole or partial tuition and fees for graduate studies at UC San Diego. The fellowships are used to attract the China field’s most promising students domestically and from around the world, focusing especially on students in the School of Global Policy and Strategy’s new Master of Chinese Economic and Political Affairs (MCEPA) program and Ph.D. students in political science.
Ambassador Diana Lady Dougan Fellowship in Contemporary China
This fellowship was set up by Denis Tse, a member of the center’s China Leadership Board, in honor of Ambassador Diana Lady Dougan who is a founder and longtime board member of the 21st Century China Center. Tse interned for Dougan at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) at the start of his career. Besides Tse, Dougan has also mentored numerous students and young professionals throughout her distinguished career in the government, think tank and private sectors. The fellowship is awarded annually to one incoming graduate student at the School of Global Policy and Strategy or Ph.D. student specializing in contemporary China.
Dr. Shao-Chi Lin and Lily Y. Lin Endowed Fellowship in China Studies
The fellowship was established through philanthropic funds in honor of Dr. Shao-Chi Lin and Lily Lin, founding members of the 21st Century China Center. It provides support for graduate students with a focus on China at the School of Global Policy and Strategy at UC San Diego, with a preference for students with proficiency in Chinese language.
