Yingjin Zhang

Distinguished Professor of Modern Chinese Literature and Chair, Department of Literature, UC San Diego

Yingjin Zhang’s work examines Chinese literature and cinema from a comparative perspective. His works have broken ground in the study of documentary film in China, and his work on Chinese film has been broadly influential. His work brings a cross-straits perspective to these studies, examining cinema in the greater sinosphere, while simultaneously problematizing the idea of “national cinema” in a globalized era. His forthcoming books deal with reclaiming Chinese literature as world literature.
