David Michael

Professor of Practice, GPS, UC San Diego

David Michael is a professor of practice who teaches courses on the business environments of China, and Asia more broadly, at the School of Global Policy and Strategy. He is currently managing director of Anzu Partners, a venture capital firm focused on helping innovative industrial technology companies achieve success. Michael has had a long career doing business in China and the Asia-Pacific region. He founded and led BCG's Global Advantage Practice, which focuses on emerging markets-related insights and client solutions. 

Michael has co-authored six articles in the Harvard Business Review on topics ranging from local Chinese business protecting their markets to Chinese approaches to management. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard in economics and an MBA from Stanford, where he received the Ernest W. Arbuckle Award. He was a rotary scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
