William J. Fallon is chair of the board of the international cyber security firm GoSecure Inc., a director of the American Security Project, an adviser to several other businesses and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He began his naval career as a combat aviator flying from an aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War, and he served in operational and staff assignments for more than four decades, leading U.S. and allied forces in eight separate commands before retiring from the Navy. Fallon commanded the U.S. Central Command, with responsibility for military operations in the Middle East and central Asia in 2007 and 2008, at the height of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He had previously commanded U.S. Pacific Command, directing political-military activities in the Asia-Pacific region. He serves on the advisory board of the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy at Georgetown University and formerly served on the International Advisory Board of the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy. Fallon is a graduate of Villanova University, the U.S. Naval War College and the National War College, and he holds a master of arts degree from Old Dominion University.
