As vice president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York’s International Program, Stephen Del Rosso is responsible for the program’s strategy and focus on a range of issues, including nuclear nonproliferation, U.S.-China relations, Russian studies, African higher education and peacebuilding, and bridging the academic-policy gap. Previously, he was director of programs at the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations and managed the Pew Charitable Trusts’ Global Security Program. Del Rosso served a decade in the U.S. Foreign Service, with overseas assignments in Central America and the Caribbean, and in Washington as staff officer to Secretary of State George Shultz, among other assignments. He was also a Presidential Management Fellow at NASA, news producer at Voice of America and staff assistant to a member of Parliament in the U.K. Del Rosso holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, where he was an Earhart Fellow.
