Simone Askew

Capt. Simone Askew, a combat engineer officer in the U.S. Army, serves as the military advisor to the deputy secretary of state. Prior to this role, Askew served on the National Security Council in the Directorate for European Affairs. She is a Rhodes Scholar and the first African American woman to serve as first captain at the United State Military Academy.
