Renard Sexton is a political scientist who uses fieldwork and quantitative methods to study conflict and development, especially in Asia, including southeast Asia, Taiwan and Afghanistan. He recently completed a yearlong stint at USINDOPACOM on a Council On Foreign Relations fellowship, working on China/Taiwan policy matters. He currently serves as assistant professor in Emory University’s Department of Political Science. His research has been published in scholarly journals including the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science and International Organization. His policy pieces and commentary have appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Guardian, International Crisis Group, Foreign Policy and others. Before joining Emory, he held fellowships at Princeton University and the International Crisis Group and previously worked for the United Nations and conflict-resolution NGOs.
