Philip Zelikow is the Botha-Chan Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. His scholarship examines critical episodes in world history and the challenge of policy design and statecraft. Before coming to Stanford, he taught at the University of Virginia and Harvard University. An attorney and former career diplomat, Zelikow held various positions in the five administrations from Reagan through Obama. He directed three successful bipartisan national commissions, including the 9/11 Commission. Zelikow leads the Hoover Workshops on Urgent Security Choices program.
