Julian Gewirtz

Julian Gewirtz is deputy coordinator for Global China Affairs at the Department of State. He previously served as director for China at the National Security Council, taught modern Chinese history at Harvard and Columbia Universities, and worked as senior fellow for China Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. He is the author of several books, most recently “Never Turn Back: China and the Forbidden History of the 1980s” (Belknap/Harvard).
