Ellen Nakashima is a national security reporter with The Washington Post. She has written about U.S. and Indo-Pacific security issues and the intersection of intelligence, technology and national security. She has covered cyber policy from the George W. Bush to Biden administrations, including China’s penetrations of American critical infrastructure and the Russian hack of the Democratic National Committee in 2016. She has been a member of three Pulitzer-prize winning teams at The Post for reporting on security failures that contributed to the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Moscow’s efforts to influence the 2016 election and the hidden scope of National Security Agency surveillance. From 2002-2006 she was stationed in Jakarta as a Southeast Asia correspondent. She joined The Post in 1995.
