Profile
David O. Shullman serves as national intelligence officer for China on the National Intelligence Council (NIC) in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). In this role, he leads the U.S. intelligence community’s strategic analysis on China and advises senior U.S. officials on China. David previously was the founding director of the Global China Hub at the Atlantic Council and, before that, senior advisor at the International Republican Institute. Earlier, Shullman served as deputy national intelligence officer for East Asia and was a senior analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency. He has been an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and a senior fellow with the Center for a New American Security. Shullman has offered testimony on China topics before both houses of Congress and publishes regularly in outlets such as Foreign Affairs and The Washington Post. He earned his Ph.D. in political science from UCLA, an M.A.L.D. from the Fletcher School and a B.A. from Georgetown University.
