Bob Davis has long covered the rise of China for The Wall Street Journal and was based in Beijing from 2011 to 2014. He was part of a team of reporters who won a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Russian financial crisis. In 2022, Davis retired from The Wall Street Journal, where he was a senior editor in Washington, D.C. He continues to write for The Journal, Foreign Policy, Politico Magazine, The Wire China and other publications. In 2025, The Wire China published “Broken Engagement,” a collection of Davis’ interviews with officials who made China policy.
