Senator Kim was elected in 2024 to the U.S. Senate and serves on committees focused on global competition, improving American security and growing opportunities for working families. Prior to his election to the Senate, Kim served in the U.S. House of Representatives for three terms, where he worked to strengthen America’s relationships abroad through the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, and increase America’s military readiness as a member of the House Armed Services Committee.
Before being elected to represent New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, Kim worked as a career public servant under both Democrats and Republicans, having served at USAID, the Pentagon, the State Department, the White House National Security Council and in Afghanistan as an advisor to Generals Petraeus and Allen.
