Andrew Tilton is the chief Asia-Pacific economist and head of emerging-markets economic research at Goldman Sachs. He coordinates research publications on the economics of regional and global emerging markets, and he writes on issues including China’s economy, U.S.-China economic relations and the broader Asia-Pacific macro outlook. The Asia-Pacific economics team has won various awards for forecasting accuracy from Bloomberg and was recognized as Best Economic Forecaster for China by Focus Economics in 2021. Tilton joined Goldman Sachs in New York in 2003 as a U.S. economist and was named managing director in 2009 and partner in 2016. He has been based in Hong Kong since 2012. Previously, Andrew was a manager at McKinsey and Company, a research economist at the McKinsey Global Institute, and a senior adviser to the Office of International Affairs at the U.S. Treasury.
